It certainly is an interesting topic isn’t it? By definition a green burial is a way of
caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact. We all want to do our part to save this
planet, but up until recently the idea of continuing to do so after we were
gone was virtually unknown. A green
burial constitutes, among other things the proper caskets, shrouds, and/or
urns.
The GBC is the Green Burial Council. It demands that the owners of a cemetery are
transparent in their operation. They
must be subject to third party scrutiny and be accountable. If they have made promises in the past that
would compromise the goal of staying “green” then they must reassess those
pledges that were made before we realized our planet was in danger.
